The Customer Owned Banking Code Compliance Committee (the COBCCC), the independent committee that monitors the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice (the Code), is delighted to make the following announcements:

Reappointment of COBCCC Chair

Jocelyn Furlan has been re-appointed as Chair of the COBCCC for a second term of three years, effective 19 February 2022. Jocelyn was originally appointed to the Committee on 19 February 2019 and has led it successfully through two challenging years, including being instrumental in providing feedback to the current review of the Code.

Appointments to the Code Team

The Code Team at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) provides secretarial services to the COBCCC.

Prue Monument has commenced her role as the General Manager of Code Compliance and Monitoring, while Rene van de Rijdt starts in a new role as Deputy General Manager. Together Prue and Rene will lead the work of Code as the COBCCC embarks on the next chapter in its development.

Prue Monument worked at the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) where she was the Executive Director Quality Assurance & Regulatory Operations. In this role she was responsible for all TEQSA’s regulatory work, compliance monitoring, investigations, risk analysis and enforcement, as well as overseeing Australian Higher Education providers’ compliance with quality and governance standards and the National Code of Practice.

Prue was previously Director of Compliance at the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, where she was responsible for all compliance, investigations, and intelligence work across Australia’s 56,000 charities.

Prue has also held senior roles in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, including National Manager of the Allegations Assessment Team, and had postings to Beirut and Shanghai.

Rene van de Rijdt takes on a new role as Deputy General Manager. This recognises the tremendous role he played as Acting General Manager following Sally Davis’s departure in March 2021.

Daniela Kirchlinde will continue in her role as Code Compliance and Operations Manager overseeing the compliance monitoring work undertaken on behalf of the COBCCC.
